Updated: Aug 31, 2023

Fennel is a flowering plant species from the carrot family. It is a hardy herb that is commonly found on the shores of the mediterranean. What are the benefits of Fennel you might ask. It has the flavor of black licorice and the crisp texture of carrot. Now that you get the gist of fennel, lets move on to what really matters here, the health benefits of fennel.

Fennel bulb is a good source of vitamin C,

a water-soluble vitamin critical for immune health, tissue repair, and collagen synthesis. Vitamin C also acts as a potent antioxidant in your body, protecting against cellular damage caused by unstable molecules called free radicals.

Other benefits that I have come across is that fennel is anti-inflammatory, and can assist the body in maintaining a healthy heart. It's a good source of fiber as well as heart-friendly nutrients like potassium and folate, vegetables like fennel supports health skin, aid in weight management and improve symptoms of anaemia.

And for the burning question you might be asking yourself at this point in time, what does one do with such interesting vegetable. Well, wonder no more, I am here to assist. Fennel is vastly versatile in the sense that there are many ways in which it can be prepared. Today, however, I will share with you two simple ways to prepare fennel.

How To Prepare Fennel

Another simple way of preparing fennel is to sprinkle a dash of salt, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and toss it on the grill for a softer, more succulent vegetable tase. This does make an amazing side dish that just might end up been the conversation piece at the coming thanksgiving dinner.
